In the struggle to define and operate in a separate territory, the militia takes itself all too seriously - volunteers are not actors, uniforms are more than mere appearance.
The project can be described as a social sculpture in a very limited format, an attempt to transplant the mechanics of a very particular social realm into the world of art- juxtaposing elements generally considered mutually exclusive.
In this impossible balancing act military method becomes a tool
for making art, and esprit de corps an aesthetic goal.
The art militia is an open system.
The purpose of the system is to function as a framework for self-organization and creative work.
Individual units are autonomous and shall comprise entirely of volunteers.
Anyone can found a new unit of the art militia.
Officership represents responsibility, not absolute authority.
Any disputes within a unit should be resolved by voting. Such votes shall never be held during active operations or training, but under resting conditions.
