In june of 2016 a group of volunteers of the Art militia travelled to Iceland to work in one of the worlds most distinctive natural areas.
The work was organised as a field exercise, with accommodation in tents and daily patrols into the beautiful, incredibly varied and bewitching landscape. The operation took place in the northeastern region of Iceland, primarily in the area around Mývatn and lasted 10 days.
"Spatial Operations II" is the visual story of this expedition.
The 1.regiment(spatial ops) mixes elements of military organisation and aesthetics with elements of land art, performance and abstract sculpture.
The project as a whole can be considered three-dimensional, a social sculpture based on voluntary service and a tool designed for aesthetic interactions with sites and landscapes.
